Bible Verses About Giving to Others Inspire Us to Share God’s Love Generously
Bible verses about giving to others highlight the heart of Christ’s message—showing love and compassion to those in need. At GFA World, this principle guides every action, rooted in the words of Matthew 10:8: “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Our organization serves impoverished communities in Africa and Asia, meeting physical needs and offering support that demonstrates God’s love to those who often feel forgotten.
Hunger is a daily struggle for millions of families around the world. Bible verses about giving food to others include Matthew 25:35, which reminds us of Christ’s words, “For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in.” GFA World takes this message to heart by providing nutritious meals to families who face food insecurity. In areas with widespread poverty, simple gifts like livestock can make a lasting difference by providing milk, eggs or meat that nourish families and offer a continual source of income.
GFA World has shared numerous testimonies of how receiving water buffaloes has transformed lives. One example is Kalinda, a woman facing poverty, received a water buffalo through GFA World’s gift program. This gift provided her with a sustainable source of income and nutrition, significantly improving her situation. Expressing her gratitude, Kalinda said, “This water buffalo has changed our lives; we now have hope for the future.”[1]
In another instance, a family in Asia received a water buffalo through one of our gift distributions. This robust animal became an invaluable asset, assisting with plowing fields and transporting goods, which increased the family’s agricultural productivity. Additionally, the water buffalo provided a steady supply of milk, enhancing the family’s nutrition and furnishing surplus to sell in the market. This gift not only improved their immediate living conditions but also offered a sustainable source of income, enabling them to plan for a more secure future.[2]
GFA World focuses on long-term solutions that empower families to rise above poverty. Vocational gifts like sewing machines, fishing nets, bicycles or livestock offer families the tools they need to generate income and become self-sufficient. Every Bible verse about giving to others in need reminds us of the importance of helping those less fortunate with a spirit of generosity and love. Galatians 6:9 urges us, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Consider Sasa’s[3] situation. Sasa knew a bicycle would ease the daily burden of the 9 miles round trip to school that she walked each day, but when she asked her father about it, his response was heartbreaking. With their limited income as farmers, the family couldn’t afford such a luxury. Determined not to add financial pressure, Sasa continued her tiring routine, occasionally shedding tears of frustration when no one was watching. Her hopes of a better commute seemed distant until one Sunday at church, where a life-changing surprise awaited her.
Through GFA World’s Christmas gift program, Sasa received a bicycle, transforming her daily life. Now she enjoys going to school, arriving on time and returning home with energy to help her family and complete her studies. Sasa and her father both rejoiced in this unexpected blessing, seeing it as a sign of God’s faithful provision. With her new bicycle, Sasa’s future is brighter, allowing her to focus on her education and enjoy a richer family life.
As we reflect on Bible verses about helping others, we see a clear call to action. GFA World’s mission is to embody the love of Christ through tangible acts of kindness. Whether it’s through feeding the hungry, offering warmth to those who are cold, empowering families or bringing joy to children, each gift is a demonstration of God’s love in action. By following the guidance of any Bible verse about giving to others and providing for those in need, GFA World is bringing hope to communities in Africa and Asia.
