Why Is a Bible Verse About Giving to Others Important?
One powerful Bible verse about giving to others is Acts 20:35, where Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” GFA World lives out this principle by serving the most vulnerable communities in Africa and Asia, offering gifts that bring lasting change and renewed hope. The story of Nandi, a young boy who faced severe hardship, shows the meaningful impact of our compassion work.
Nandi’s[1] early life was filled with challenges. Stricken with polio, he struggled with mobility, making his life on the streets extremely difficult. One tragic day, Nandi was run over by a vehicle and left on the roadside, severely injured and unable to move. Many people passed by without offering help, but a compassionate woman noticed the young boy’s plight. She rushed him to a nearby hospital where he received the emergency medical care that saved his life. Her selfless actions marked the beginning of a new chapter for Nandi, offering him a chance to heal and recover.
After his recovery at the hospital, local authorities intervened and referred Nandi to a home for abandoned and runaway boys run by GFA staff. Here, he found a loving environment filled with dedicated workers who provided him with nutritious meals, consistent medical attention, and the emotional and spiritual support he desperately needed. Additionally, Nandi began to receive holistic care, including access to education, which opened up new possibilities for his future. Not only did the supportive atmosphere give him a sense of safety and a community, it also became a home that daily demonstrated God’s love.
Nandi’s story exemplifies our mission to go beyond temporary aid and offer sustainable, life-changing solutions. The compassionate care he received transformed his life from one of suffering and neglect to one filled with hope and opportunities. GFA’s initiatives focus on long-term impact, empowering children and families to break free from the cycle of poverty. Nandi’s journey, from being abandoned on the streets to becoming a thriving student, is a powerful testament to the transformative power of love and kindness.
GFA World’s many programs are designed to address the holistic needs of children like Nandi, giving them the tools to succeed. His story is just one of many that show how acts of selfless compassion can create lasting change. By partnering with GFA World, you can help extend this mission of love, providing hope, dignity and new opportunities to countless others in need.
