What Is the Purpose of a Bridge Builders Community Partnership?

The GFA Bridge Builders community partnership links committed supporters with communities across Africa and Asia where and when it’s most needed to bring hope and opportunity. For decades, GFA World has been dedicated to reaching out into underserved regions, providing practical assistance that uplifts lives and empowers a truly life-transforming kind of sustainable change. It helps accumulate resources necessary for the growth and well-being of communities through the combined efforts of donors and our trained national missioaries.

It is evident that clean water access is pivotal to any community to safeguard its health and prosperity, yet millions of families in Africa and Asia find themselves reliant on sources deemed unsafe. This is the ‘big deal’ that GFA World’s Jesus Wells initiative tries to tackle by providing sustainable, not short-lived, access to clean water. Our wells are located in strategic, high-need areas where they will relieve people’s physical plight and drastically reduce the time needed to obtain water. For women―who are mostly responsible for collecting water―the presence of a Jesus Well near their homes can mean more time to be educated, employed, and care for the family, all an investment in a brighter future.

GFA World’s emphasis on literacy and vocational training is a step toward sustainable change within communities. These programs provide teaching on things like reading, managing funds, and some hands-on skills such as tailoring or making candles. Such opportunities provide women with the means of attaining a sustainable income, helping to support their families and contributing meaningfully to their communities. By helping these women, GFA World is laying the basis for self-sustaining and hopeful communities from which future generations will take their course and break the poverty cycle.

Meaningful change is brought by GFA pastors and missionaries working closely with local communities. With Bridge Builders’ support, they provide things such as outdoor toilets that provide not only improved hygiene but also dignity by pushing the whole neighborhood toward better sanitation practices. These outdoor toilets, run by local teams, work for health and uplift life for families.

It’s through initiatives like these that GFA World partnerships drive comprehensive development, creating communities in which people have the resources they need to thrive.
